I’ve never been one for scary Halloween decorations and this year is no acceptation. While I love all the decorations around the neighborhood, I always go with something a little more fun and playful. I made this DIY Magic Halloween Garland to hang over my front door and it turned out so cute. I’m loving all the little details on it and hope it brings some smiles to the friends in our neighborhood.

I started this DIY magic Halloween garland by making some magical pumpkins. place a piece of felt into an embroidery hoop and trim the access felt. Use your embroidery needle and floss to decorate and stitch on felt shapes.

Remove the felt from the hoop and stitch around the border of the felt circle. Pull on the two ends of the embroidery floss and slowly pull together, creating a little pocket. Fill the pocket with stuffing and pull the floss tightly together and tie with a double knot.

Stitch a rolled piece of felt together for the stem and then stitch onto the top of the pumpkin. Once my stem was on, I used a long piece of embroidery floss to create the indents. I stuck the needle through the pumpkin (entering by the stem) and out the center underneath. Continue doing this around the pumpkin, pulling the floss tightly to create the indents.

I also decided to add felt stars, leaves, disco balls, bows and pom poms to my garland.

Decide how long you want your garland to be and cut a piece of yarn to size.

I made a stitch into the leaves with embroidery floss and then tied them to the garland. You can use a hot glue gun for this part if you prefer. Since my pumpkin stems were nice and long, I folded them around the yarn and stitched in place. Continue adding items to your DIY Magic Halloween Garland and hang in a place it can be enjoyed!
