Chalky Finish Coffee Table

Over the years of making over furniture, I am continually surprised at how something as simple as paint can totally transform a project.
This next piece is no exception. I found this coffee table at a yard sale a couple of months ago.
Guess what they were asking for it? A whopping $10!

I love the lines and pretty carved legs. Unfortunately, the finish was in bad shape, and I didn’t like how dark it was.
So when DecoArt offered to send me some of their Americana Decor Chalky Finish paint to try, I knew this would be perfect on this table.
First, I cleaned all of the years of filth off of the table with a wet cloth.

I started out by painting the legs and border of the table in Whisper.

After two coats of that, I got started on on the center of the table where I painted on two coats of Heirloom.

I love this paint because it eliminates the sanding step since it adheres to any surface.

Then I distressed the entire piece with a medium grit sanding block.
Last, I coated the whole piece in Americana Decor Creme Wax and buffed it off.

I really like the color combination and the distressing really made the legs the showcase of this piece. The best part of Americana Decor paint? They sell it at Home Depot, Hobby Lobby, Michaels, A.C. Moore and other stores.
