What a lovely idea - simple and easy - just plant stand, dish and paint. Think I would probably add a solar fountain, to help keep the water 'moving', so it doesn't go 'mucky', which can happen in warm/hot weather. Place in a shady area, so water doesn't evaporate (too quickly); making sure that there are no low growing shrubs and plants nearby; which bushes, predators can hide in. I already have 2 large bird baths in my front garden (Sydney, Australia). And the actual bowl of both, is shallow, because birds apparently - don't like deep water. I still need to get a solar fountain for each of them - one of them is very shallow, but at least water is available for the birds, during hot weather. Again, congratulations on a sensible, and very attractive idea. No need for tools, screws, husbands/boy-friends etc..
