I got this piece because i saw all the potential in it. ALL THAT DETAIL...
I started by Cleaning this piece! ALWAYS PREP. no matter what you are using. Then I painted it in 2 coats of Annie Sloan Old White.
I then added a wash of Shabby Paints Buffalo Brown over the entire piece.

Then i added a light layer of Annie Sloan Provence

The wash allows the color to stay in the grooves... and really gives it some depth.
Added some Annie Sloan Provence to the raised areas...when i applied the brown wash - it allowed me to also wet distress at the same time...
then lightly applied a darker blue color to the raised parts of the dresser...
added a white dry brush
I sealed the entire dresser in GF HIGH PERFORMANCE TOP COAT.. several times.. then i added Gold Gilding Wax in special spots
Cleaned that hardware really well! i let it soak in vinegar and hot water..then used barkeepers friend to scrub... i usually boil but these pieces were very large...
and the end result! Top was painted in a solid color, Buffalo Brown

I love this! How did you prep the piece to have the paint stay on?
