Patina Collection on a Chest

4 Materials
Virginia with Artsyvava was on a mission to create a rustic, modern inspired piece out of this dark wood and brass chest.
Start with a clean piece of furniture and a base coat of Dixie Belle Paint. On metal surfaces you should start with Prime Start and on any other surface you can choose your favorite Dixie Belle Paint Color.
Virginia chose to use the color Chocolate as a base.
After your base coat has dried you will want to apply a full coat of Bronze Patina Paint. The paint has metal in it so you have to shake it well so the metal is distributed throughout the paint.
After that has dried you will want to add another layer of metal infused Bronze Patina Paint and while it is still wet you will want to apply the Blue Patina Spray.
Instead of spraying it on, Virginia sprayed it into a bowl and applied it with a chip brush.
As you can see, the paint and spray react together and start a corrosion process, that gives a rusty weathered look. Virginia did the top, then did the upper half of the front, then the bottom half, then each side.
Here is a close up of the details the patina collection can make.
Next the whole piece was covered in Black Glaze and Grunge Glaze.
This is the final product! Easily achievable weathered looks using Dixie Belle Paint Patina Collection.
