Ribbon Placemats for Your Holiday Table Setting

This festive placemat serves many purposes in my Christmas decorating! It’s so pretty!

I chose two colors of velvet ribbon but you could choose as many as you like. My next project will have three colors of ribbon! Full disclosure: I was going to use this calendar hanging frame to make a ribbon tray but I didn’t have enough ribbon so you can look forward to that DIY in the future LOL.

These velvet ribbons are from Hobby Lobby in the ribbon and trim section near the fabric.

I started by. cutting my velvet ribbon to the size I needed to fit around my Dollar Tree Placemat.

I used a plastic placemat to give it stability and something to hold my weave in place.

I turned my velvet ribbon pattern over to the right side down on my tabletop and placed my Dollar Tree placemat down. It fits! Yay!

I started hot gluing my pieces down one at a time sown the same side so that all of my green velvet ribbon was glued on this end first.

Then I proceeded down the red velvet ribbon gluing both sides of the same red velvet ribbon as I went so that only the green velvet ribbon is left unglued on the one end.

Constantly flipping the placemat back and forth from front to back the entire time to make sure that my ribbon is straight. Don’t rely on the backside of the velvet ribbon matching up straight.

This velvet ribbon placemat project only took me about 20 minutes and it really is stunning!
