Turn a 25¢ Board Into An Advent Calendar Easily!

Every year, I come up with new ways to make an easy DIY Advent Calendar. I don’t plan on it every year, but when the holidays start coming around and I start feeling inspired to create for it, an easy DIY Advent Calendar is always in the mix.
This year, when I was cleaning out my office for our fall yard sale, I came across this piece I bought at a yard sale for 25¢. I loved the shape and size of this board and thought I could come up with something great for it. I didn't have plans for it right away, but when I find something I like for that cheap, I have to bring it home.
When I found it in my craft closet a few months ago, the board was next to the metal numbers I picked up at a yard sale years ago. It was like they were in the closet together to make me think of an Advent Calendar. I had to put them together.
I painted the board {aff} “Bayberry” from Fusion Mineral Paint. It was the perfect green for the calendar. Then, I spray painted the {aff} metal numbers gold. When they were dry, we nailed all of the numbers on the board and then added small tea cup hooks under each one.
I painted red, polka dots to a small linen drawstring bag I had and that will be the "marker" as we count down the days until Christmas.
The bag is the perfect size for adding little notes, trinkets and things to do each day until Christmas. This Advent Calendar cost me next to nothing because I had everything on hand. Check your garage for a small board and you can make this calendar that will last for years to come too!
