I Needed Another Thread Stand for My New Machine

The stand I had was too short for my new taller machine.
I had this one I had found at a garage sale but it did not have the lead for the thread. If you want to, you can make the entire stand from a block of wood and use two dowels. One shorter one to hold the spool of thread, and than one like I am doing.
As you can see, the tall lead for the thread is missing and I needed to remedy that.
First i found a piece of dowel the size of the hole in the stand. I had this on hand from another project.
I loosened the screw and inserted the wooden dowel.
Than I tightened the screw snuggly. I measured the length that I wanted it to be to allow the thread to reach the top of my machine. Using a pair of snips, I cut the dowel to the desired length.
Next I wrapped a piece of duct tape around the end of the wooden dowel.
Using a length of wire I had, I cut a short length (about two inches)
to make a thread guide for the top of the dowel.
Again, using the snips, (side cutters), I cut the wire to two inches.
Using the duct tape again, I wrapped a short piece around the wire and that began wrapping it around the dowel. Since the duct tape sticks very well to itself, by wrapping the wooden dowel, and also the wire, the two were easily held by the tape.
After both the dowel and the wire were wrapped, I than wrapped both the the dowel.
I than made a curly cue on top of the wire for the thread to go through.
This guide is taller than my machine and leads the thread into the machine quite well.
