Hi Hometalk! I have a fun and easy makeover for you guys! It is super beginner-friendly and the result is like a pro!

I'll be restyling a footstool. Footstools are a piece of complementing furniture usually partnered with sofas or gliders. Since they are small in size, they're definitely easy to restyle.

Here's The Bombay Company Footstool I started with. It will be restyled with a lettering transfer and a matte black chalk mineral paint.

I started by removing the floral fabric top from the base by removing all the staples.

Once removed, I measured a plain fabric/canvas and cut the fabric with a 3 to 4 inches allowance, this give me comfort to work with.

I then stapled the cotton batting and the fabric and made sure that the corners and fit are excellent. To give it a cleaner look, I cut off the excess fabric.

I recommend using a pneumatic staple/upholstery gun. It saves a lot of time and costs as much as a manual staple gun.

Since we are using a lettering transfer, I measured for the center to give me an idea of where to put the transfer that will make sure that the letters are straight.

The next step is straightforward. Simply place the transfer to the area you want it to be adhered to and rub it onto the fabric.

As you can see on the left side, the lettering on the plastic turned light and the plastic was detached. This means that the transfer has adhered.

Lastly, I painted it with two coats of black.

Here's the final look! Considering footstools are usually low-traffic furniture, you don't have to worry about the transfers falling off. But if you want to protect the piece, you could use spray wax as a sealant for the fabric and a topcoat for the paint.
