Bought a mid century modern coffee table at a yard sale. The top was laminate and in bad shape (scratched up). BTW (The photo below is not my actual table - I forgot to take a before photo - but found this one online and it is the same table).
So I decided to paint it with chalk paint - but I hated it! Ugh!
So I looked around for some ideas - saw lots of scrap pieces of wood in our garage and got inspired to cover the laminate top with wood. This was wood beadboard - but I used the opposite side.
I measured the top of the table, cut the wood pieces, sanded the edges of the wood, and stained it.
I wanted different colors and tones of wood and used these products to stain the wood and as a top coat to protect it.
I glued the strips of stained wood to the top of the table and then nailed them in to the laminate. Loved the results and what a different look to a dull, boring table!
