I found these two end tables listed on Craigslist for $45 the pair, and with son's help, picked them up the next day. They are solid, heavy and had just a little ding here and there that I knew would not be an issue for what I had in mind. I decided to paint them in chalk paint by Crooked Label, with the goal of using them in our master bedroom at our cottage at the cove.
Please find Crooked Label's FB page link posted below. Their website is: http://crookedlabelpaints.mysimplestore.com/
Here is the before pic. The wood was nice, but orangey and not my style. If I wasn't going to paint them, I had no use for them as they were. For the price I paid, I thought it would be a fun project and something I could be creative with.
Before.
After! I used Crooked Label's White Glove and Moonstone. I had used these colours on another project of mine, a large dresser that I posted about here: http://www.hometalk.com/diy/bedroom/dressers/complete-transformation-of-an-old-dresser-7021311
Here is a nice close-up of the new hardware I bought for these tables. I paid $10 for two. After applying two coats of each colour, I lightly distressed the tables. I then gave it two coats of bees wax, buffing after each coat.
I used a light aqua latex paint on the sides and insides of each drawer and for a pop of colour, decoupaged some scrapbook paper as linings. It's got a beachy feel to it, don't you think?
Here is a detailed photo of one of the legs. Like I said, a few dings here and there don't hurt the end result, in my opinion, but give it character and stop it from looking too perfect, yet perfect for me. :) I can't wait to bring these to our home by the ocean once spring gets here!
