Over the Door Shoe Storage ...or is It? :)

I have come up with a few uses for over the door shoe storage, that don't involve shoes. I have kind of a small house and storage always seems to be at a premium, so I have to get creative.

When my wonderful hubby moved in, I relinquished the master bathroom to him because it's big, and so is he (6'6" tall and muscular icon

) and I'm small (5 feet of concrete!) Anyway, I was happy to take over the hall bathroom. Unfortunately, the only storage is this tiny vanity and no room in the small bathroom to really add more storage.....

...except behind the door. I bought a shoe organizer and installed it in about 10 minutes.

I treated myself to new towels (isn't it crazy how we will use the same old, beat up towels for years before we decide to replace them? I bought 4 new towels at WalMart for less than $20.00!) I hung my towels over some of the shoe holders.

There was plenty of room for the towels and the metal shoe holders are plenty strong enough to hold them.

Then I put rolls of toilet paper on some of the other shoe holders.

This freed up so much space under the sink and put my towels and toilet paper in easy reach. It's also hidden when the door is open and doesn't inhibit he use of the door.

The other way I used over the door shoe storage was to buy this type, and put it on a spare bedroom door.

I have collected several 18" x 18" pillowcases for different holidays and seasons and needed to store them.

I folded them up and placed them in a shoe pouch. You can put 2 to a pouch.

This worked perfectly and keeps my pillow cases clean and organized. I hope you can use my "out of the (shoe)box" storage ideas! icon
