Vintage Scrabble Tile Garden Markers
It's finally time for some Spring DIY projects and I have a simple, fun one for you involving scrabble tiles and yardsticks. They promise to add a bit of excitement to your garden, porch, and/or deck, with very little trouble at all.
Aren't they darling?
Gather together all of your supplies and let's get busy!
Add stain and large craft sticks to your pile of supplies.
Select the words you'd like to spell, like "garden," "herbs," "bloom," or "grow." Cut the yardstick to size--one inch longer than the word you want to spell. So for the word "garden," you'd cut a piece of yardstick 7" long, for "herbs," 6", etc.
Sand the back of each tile and apply a small dab of hot glue.
Immediately press the tile into place and press very hard for 30 seconds or so to ensure adherence.
Stain a large craft stick to "age" it, then sand the tip that will be glued to the yardstick. Apply a dab of hot glue to the tip of the craft stick and press it into place on the yardstick.
And you're done! See my blog post for more details and other vintage-inspired projects of all kinds.
