Vintage Chest Gets a Frosted Look.

Picked this piece up at a thrift store for $65. Has great bones .
Lightly sanded to smooth and washed it inside out with vinegar and water. The old odor still very strong.
Painted outside with 2 coats of Annie Sloan color, graphite. Lightly wet sanded between coats. The "old" odor was so overpowering, I painted inside the cabinet with some leftover yellow latex wall paint . When dry, I had to sand a little with heavy grit sandpaper where drawers slide to keep them from sticking. It worked great and the odor is gone, yay!
Mixed one part shabby brand paint color, Garfield gray with 2 parts glaze and wiped over graphite color using a small sponge.
Just felt like the crest needed something.
Had ordered former awesome stencil online through etsy couple weeks ago. Wasn't sure where I'd use them, but knew they would look great . They sent me that fabulous crown free with my typography stencil. I was so excited when I realized it would look great in that crest!
First, I used Annie Sloan color, primer red. Let it dry. Next, over top of primer red with stencil still in place I did a wash of Buffalo brown by Shabby paint color. Let that dry. Then, with stencil still in place I put dark wax on top.
Used Annie Sloan soft clear wax to seal.
I'm loving this piece now. Happy creating out there :) .
