Mini Macrame Wall Hanging Tutorial

This design can be hung as a mini macrame wall hanging or saved for the holidays to be used as Christmas Ornaments, added to your holiday wrapping, or given as thoughtful handmade gifts to your family and friends.


Finished Dimensions:

· Length: 4.5”

· Width: 4.5”


Cords: 4mm single stranded cord from Ganxxet


Supplies:

· 8 x 30” macrame cord

· 4.5” Driftwood (could also use cinnamon sticks or a wooden dowel)

· 1 x 12” Jute twine

· Scissors

· Comb

Attach each macrame cord to the wood by tying lark’s head knots. (A)

Working from left to right, create one row of four square knots. (B)

For the second row, create three square knots with working strands #3 through (C) 

For the third row, create two square knots with working strands #5 through (D)

For the fourth row, create on square knot with working strands #7 through (E) 

Use working strand #16 as the anchor and create diagonal double half hitch knots with working strands #15 through (F-G)


 Use working strand #1 as the anchor and create diagonal double half hitch knots with working strands #2 through #9. (H-I)


Use working strand #9 as the anchor and create a diagonal double half hitch knot with working strand #8. (J-K)

Repeat steps 6 through 8 to create an additional row of diagonal double half hitch knots. (K)

2” below the point of the upside down triangle cut the length of the design. (L) You can either leave the design as is or comb through the working strands and trim to a desired length.

With jute twine, tie a lark’s head knot in the center of the wood and tie an overhand knot at the opposite end of the twine. (M)

    What about using a plastic wrapped candy cane for hanging it on the tree instead of the wooden dowel. Would look very festive!
