The ‘Dirt’ vase, it’s a current trend that’s all over Instagram so I figured I’d give it a try! Spray paint and dirt, how hard could it be??

I had a coffee can I was about to throw out when I a lightbulb went off, that it could be fun to try the dirt method on it.

Firstly, I peeled off the label

I used black spray paint I had on hand.

I did two light coats to avoid any dripping. It dried super fast.

I found some sand out in my backyard.

And added some water to make a thick mud consistency.

I then lightly rubbed it over the coffee can. And set aside to dry.

Once dry, I dusted off the extra dirt.

I left some sand in the stripes to allow more texture. While this can had been drying, I painted a glass vase to see how it held up on glass.

For the glass vase, I tried out chalk paint instead of spray paint. I also added some flour to the sand mix to add some white texture. In my opinion the spray paint held up better when applying the mud mix, but it looked amazing using both products.

I added some fresh greenery from my garden.

I love how they turned out and it was an easy diy!!!
