Here's a fun project for the afternoon for the grandkids or kids in your home. It is easy, and it is one project that keeps on giving! What child does not love to put a coin in the gumball machine and get a few balls of colored gum? You can use sugar free or even candy. I picked the original gumballs for mine.
I tried to buy a wing nut to glue on the front for the faux coin mechanism, but the department store did not have any. If I find one in the near future, I will attach it to the front between the two stickers.
First I found a glass with some design in the sides. I first looked at glass ones, but decided on this sturdy plastic one because of the designs on it. I used glossy bright red. If you make one, you can paint it whatever color you choose, but I wanted the traditional gumball color. I paint outside when I can for good ventilation. With our spring wind, it was well ventilated!
The next step was to glue the candy jar to the bottom of the glass. I could not resist, I had to add the gumballs. Gorilla E6000 glue sets up fairly quickly. Then I added the lid on top. I did not glue on the lid for obvious reasons.
Here is a short video showing a close up of this darling little gumball "machine" that was both easy and fun. Everything but the paint was on sale so it was inexpensive too. The bag of gumballs costs more than the gumball dispenser!
