Floating Wall Shelves

Did you ever stop "seeing" things in your own house because you see it day in and day out? I had a wall like that until last week. I had the same old picture on a wall in my living room for years, and I decided to change it up with some floating wall shelves.
One reason I chose shelves rather than wall art is because I have a thermostat right in the center of this wall. Not a big deal, but not too pretty to look at. I figured if I added shelves, I could arrange them in such a way that the thermostat is camouflaged but not entirely blocked.
If you look really close at the basket on top of the books, you can see the thermostat peeking out on the left. Pretty tricky, right?
I styled them further with a trailing plant which I've shockingly kept alive for months so lets hope he likes it in this new spot. It's high up away from curious cats who like to nibble it.
I added a framed print to the top shelf. (Google free printables for tons of free prints!) Those round bundles on the bottom shelf are actually Christmas ornaments. I love them so much, I'm going to leave those out all year. They give such a great, natural element to the shelves!
