Dining Room Table Converted to Desk
by
Cathy Lawson
(IC: homeowner)
I needed some new chairs for my dining room and scored this awesome set that included a table at my local thrift store for $100. I didn't need the table, but liked the legs and trim.
For several months it took up too much room in my office as basically a big flat surface for me to stack stuff on. I decided that if I used half of it, it would be a great size for a desk. So I disassembled it, sanded the top and painted it with a stencil, then painted the sides and legs. A bit of sanding and a few layers of clear and dark wax and my new desk was ready for action. Since I was only using two of the legs, I attached it to a cleat screwed into studs.
