  • I had this old propane grill that the grates and burner were no longer working. We had bought a new grill, but it had no storage space for tools or accessories. I wanted to keep the old propane grill for the storage area/ cooking prep area.
First, I powerwashed the grill to remove the grease and grime from the surface. After letting it dry, I gutted the burner and grates and measured the area for the cutting board area. It would sit on the grooves where the grates sat originally.
I had my husband glue the boards together and sand them so a butcher block look was attained. It was finished with a salad bowl finish that goes on food sensitive wood products like bowls and cutting boards.
I'm still able to use the side burner when I hook up the propane tank, and I have storage underneath for outdoor kitchen gadgets and tools. It's not quite finished, but I would eventually like to find a small mini fridge to fit in the space under the grill as well.
