Anchor And Amber
I love painting furniture.
And, when this coffee table was sitting on my work table at Junk Mama's General Store, a customer asked, "are you going to paint that?" To which I replied, "yes!" Then she asked, "why?" To which I replied, "because I'm a furniture painter." I could've gone on about how the piece was dated, the wood wasn't a pretty color, it was scratched up,...
Although dated, I wanted to highlight some of the vintage style detail.
Since I was going to use Dixie Belle Paint Company's Silk paint, I gave the table a light scuff sanding and cleaned the table with Dixie Belle's White Lightening cleaner.
I chose the color, Anchor.
I loved this little trim detail around the top of the coffee table and decided not to paint over it.
Once I had given the coffee table two coats of Silk, I used Gemstone Mousse to highlight the details on the table. The color, Amber, was a great compliment to the trim that I left unpainted.
The Gemstone Mousse is highly pigmented and needs very little for great coverage. I simply used my finger to apply it to all the raised detailed areas.
Anchor and Amber gave this dated coffee table a more modern, up to date, feel.
And, it's a lot less expensive to paint an old piece of furniture than to buy new!
