Easily Transform Cabinet Doors
We have a built-in cabinet in our downstairs bathroom. It's great for storage, but looks pretty drab. With my husband's handiwork and my design idea we were able to give it a fresher look.
These are the doors before we did anything to them. They used to slide open, which is never convenient for items stored in the middle. We decided to take them off, reface them, and put hinges on them so they would open out instead.
This is the pattern I came up with and my husband graciously implemented. Using the backs of the doors for the new front, he used 1x2 pine boards, which he glued and screwed into place. He then cut beadboard to fit into each individual triangle. This proved to be a little tricky because he had to make sure to keep the beadboard lined up properly so it looked like all one piece. He chose not to put the beadboard down first because then he'd have to use a tongue and groove type process.
Once all of the pieces were glued and in place, he then primed and painted the doors. He screwed on 3 overlay hinges per door and added these fun handles -- all found at Lowe's.
