Pallet Swing

We had a few pallets leftover from our backyard projects and decided to build a pallet swing with them!
A couple leftover pallets...
We cut down the back....
Used carriage bolts to attach and support the back...
Painted it black....
Attached chain with eye hooks and lock clips....
Hung it and added some pillows....
Wonderful place to sit and enjoy the pond...
....read a book and listen to the birds!
Enjoyed the project?

Pallets are made to be disposable, you wouldn't catch me sitting on this! You'd be on your butt by the end of the first season. All that work wasted.

Not off painted with paint that would protect it and you had a quality pallet to start with. You can find some very good pallets. I agree, not all would be strong enough to last but surely people would realize it would need to be protected from the weather.

I made a swing just like this years ago, I have a serious warning, those chains are all wrong, and that swing will flip over and dump the person or child playing on it, I lost ll my front teeth because I knelt on it and leaned on the back. Please advise that the chains in the back need to be on the top of the back

Frequently asked questions
Have a question about this project?
OMG this is so pretty!! Do you have it hanging from that big oak tree behind it? It must be a very heavy swing. I Love the whole look and wish I had a tree like that. I too would love to know how you made your lamp shade or if you bought it somewhere??? I might try making a swing like yours but will have to also build a frame to hang it from. Thanks for sharing it's beautiful as well as your yard too!
