A Garden Mistake!

Warning!!! Do not plant this plant! It is invasive, will devour your flower beds and is difficult to eradicate! My friend and I each bought a tiny , unassuming pot of Houttuynia cordata "Chameleon Plant" because we saw it on a garden tour around a fountain and loved its multi-colored leaves and sweet little white bloom. At first, it was a pretty little groundcover addition to my woodland bed, but she turned into a real bully the third year. While I wasn't looking, Chameleon sent runners underground EVERYWHERE and is now crowding all the other plants out. I yanked out armloads of this plant last year and it is back again this year like it hadn't been touched. War has been declared and I am determined to keep at it until this beast is vanquished.
Don't make the mistake I did !

That's the part that really bites! The weeds and obnox plants seem to "know" where to grow so we can't just use a shovel or a flame thrower! I'm fighting fire weed and yellow heads. They have found their way into the irises and tulips.

@Sharon Hall ~ it will grow anywhere, I believe. You might want to think twice though. This really takes over!
