Ikea Bunk Bed Storage Hack
Hello Hometalkers! We've been working on our girls' boho bedroom makeover, and today I want to show you the Ikea Hack we used to create rolling storage drawers under their bunk beds. We used the Ikea MYDAL bunk beds
We started with the Hemnes twin-sized under-bed drawer set from Ikea. They aren't made to work with the Mydal bunk beds, so we needed to make a few changes so they would match the beds.
I started with a 40-grit sandpaper disk, and then switched to 120 grit to finish it. I actually sanded all the drawer pieces, but it took a crazy long time. If I did it again, I would just do the fronts to save time.
Once all the finish was sanded off the drawer fronts, we assembled the drawers according to the package instructions.
Once the drawers were assembled, we realized that one of the sides of the ladder was blocking the drawer from closing all the way. So we maked off the end.
Then cut if off with an oscillating multi-tool.
Now both drawers close all the way, and we have tidy under-bed storage. It also prevents junk from getting shoved under the bed. Win all-around. Now come see more of the girls' boho bedroom makeover on my blog!
