Redoing Faux Brick Wall

by Jennifer Drake
(IC: homeowner)
We had installed the faux brick panels a long time ago. We are slowly redoing our house, one room at a time and it is time for the sunroom. Decided to try painting the faux brick to see how it went.
Before - yuck.
Painted with white chalk paint. After it was dry I rubbed it down with a wet rag and made some of the bricks pop.
Decided it still needed some more depth. So found some brownish paint, watered it down and then added randomly to each brick.
Here you can see how I applied the brown paint. Once applied, I rubbed the brown into the pattern.
Close up of the effect.
The whole wall done.
Enjoyed the project?

Beautiful. My last house was brick. So that it wouldn't be a solid brick color, the builder "rag rolled" it in coordinating paint hues. It was gorgeous. It gave the new home an old time charm.-
