Colorful Children's Table and Chairs

I'm a colorer from way back. I even remember my first box of crayons. I was coloring outside on our steps when I went inside to get a drink. When I came back out, all my crayons had been mangled and chewed. My dogs thought they were a treat. I was heartbroken! From that day forward, crayons have always been my my most coveted "toy".
Set I found on a facebook sale site for $50
I cleaned with soapy water and a magic eraser. Then sanded top to bare wood. The chairs, table apron and legs were scuffed up to help the primer adhere.
I always tint my primer to blend.
I added an ounce of Dragonsbelly Unicorn SPiT to a quart of Kiltz to get this beautiful mint green. Using an airless paint sprayer, I painted everything except the table top.
After the table and chairs dried overnight, I chose a dark room to begin my tracing process. Using a EZTracer, projected my coloring page to the top and chair seats. I used a pencil this time, but I sometimes use chalk.
I used the very bold and vibrant Unicorn SPiT gel stain and glaze in one and the yet to be released Sparkling gel stain to fill in the design. If you've never heard of this product, you will be absolutely amazed at the things you can do with this product. No other "paint" can do what Unicorn SPiT can do. Not to mention it is TOTALLY non toxic! You can use your bare hands, I don't though because I'm OCD and can't stand my hands to get dirty. I promise I'm not being paid to say this, it really is wonderful! (I won the Sparkling gel stain).
I diluted the Unicorn SPIT about 65% with water. The water doesn't dilute the color, the vibrancy is just as strong!! I used a long dropper I got with a large bottle of essential oil to apply the SPiT instead of using a brush. I didn't want any brush marks. This was the first time using this method and I loved it. It went very quick and smooth.
Using the dropper made spitting the background so easy to do! I could have applied my design on top of the background, but I hadn't decided on my color. I wanted to get the design done, then I decided a nice sky blue would look nice. The sky blue was made by mixing 3 parts Zia Teal and 1 part Blue Thunder. I used a fine tip black sharpie to fill in the details and outlines.
I dry brushed Hummingbird, Lici Thunderbird and Rock Chalk Sparkling gel stain over the primed surfaces of table and chairs. Pictures just doesn't do this set justice!
I used 4 coats of Min wax Fast-Drying Polyurethane, lightly sanding with 200 grit inbetween coats.
