Would you like to make a piece of 'Flower' Art for your home? I was asked by a friend to create a piece of artwork for her bedroom - she wanted something a bit different so I decided to create a piece of art using artificial flowers and a few other bits and pieces. I will show you below.
First of all you need an Artist's Blank Canvas - I used an 18" x 24" - you can either purchase just one canvas or a Value Pack of 4 or more. I have quite a stock of canvases as I used to paint quite a lot - now I tend to paint more furniture than a canvas.
You then need some Texture Paste to give your canvas some 'texture'. Apply this with a palette knife see here https://www.amazon.com/RGM-Palette-Knife-no-45/dp/B00IG96IT4/ref=sr_1_9?s=arts-crafts&ie=UTF8&qid=1537710178&sr=1-9&keywords=palette+knife. Spread the texture paste all over your canvas to what suits you - you can use your fingers if you want - just play around with it.
Once you get your texture how you want it, then paint the whole of the canvas with a brush - including the sides of the canvas - I used white acrylic - you can get this from Amazon here - https://www.amazon.com/Liquitex-BASICS-Acrylic-8-45-oz-Titanium/dp/B002665SYY/ref=sr_1_23?s=arts-crafts&ie=UTF8&qid=1537710416&sr=1-23&keywords=artists+acrylic+paints

I tend to cover the whole canvas with the white acrylic paint at this stage because when adding the flowers and other bits and bats you need to make sure that you do not miss any of the canvas before you start adding your artificial flowers and other bits and bats.
So.…. now for the decoration. I used these artificial flowers and their stems - They are 'Butterfly Orchids' - you can find them here - https://www.amazon.com/ROSENICE-Flower-Artificial-Butterfly-Decoration/dp/B06XY12JFS/ref=sr_1_7?s=arts-crafts&ie=UTF8&qid=1537714038&sr=1-7&keywords=artificial+flowers+for+decoration

It does not matter what flowers and what colour - just choose something you actually like the shape of. I also used a few different flowers and just used their 'heads' and bits and pieces from the flowers. Arrange them as you see fit or like in any style or placement you wish.

Once you have arranged your flowers, then use a white acrylic spray paint and cover the whole of the flowers and their stems - don't miss any part of the flowers - spray lightly all over -you may need a few coats - keep going over them until you cover the flowers completely with no colour showing through.
Gather your other supplies - I used craft pearls and swarovsky craft crystals - all from Amazon. I also already had some glass wired leaves which I had already purchased a while ago. I purchased them in a small shop in Spain, but you could purchase something like these - https://www.etsy.com/listing/607937179/special-hank-of-18-20-depending-on-sizes?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=glass%20leaves&ref=sc_gallery-1-1&plkey=c3da4b6baec847b5e1ccb7823fc24bc756cd4e05:607937179
or you could use coloured ones if you wish - it is whatever suits your taste - these blue ones are nice, I just wanted everything to be white, but use your imagination. https://www.etsy.com/listing/537789290/alder-bluenavy-10x-handmade-glass-leaf?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=glass%20leaves&ref=sr_gallery-1-2 - this shop on Etsy has loads of different ideas for you.
You will also need some glue i.e. PVA or even Mod Podge to secure these items onto your canvas - whatever glue you use it needs to dry clear!

A close-up of some different flowers in the top right hand corner

The completed art
This is the BEFORE picture of my friend's wall where I was going to place this piece of art, but before I could place it on the wall - she also asked me to makeover the whole room - not only the walls but the beds and bedside units and some other items, but... they can be for another post! Although you will see the wall and her bedheads painted in blue - her walls were painted in a light grey, which you will see in the photographs below.
I also chose the bedlinen for her which is in Willow Pattern
You will see in this final picture that I added (at the last minute) 3 butterflies - I think these just add a little 'extra touch'. Hope you like them too?

I am sure you will enjoy creating this type of art?

Please note - I had everything I needed already in my stash of stuff so did not cost me anything. But... obviously if you do not have any of these items already would work out quite expensive. But most of you - I think are close to 'cheap shops' ie. the 'Dollar Store' so I am sure you could pick up quite a few bits and bobs from there?
