Merry & Bright Christmas Door

This year for Christmas I wanted to take the time to add a little DIY project for my decor. When I was thinking about what I could use in my home I realized I wanted something for my front porch. So I did some digging around and finally remembered a set of old pantry doors that I had been given. And when I saw that one had a side that was green I knew it was perfect for my little DIY project! (You could recreate this process on any door, an old window, or a piece of wood!)

How to Make a Stackable Pumpkin Address Door Hanger

In years past I've seen where people have stacked pumpkins and put them in a planter--with or without their street numbers on them--so I was going to take a stab at it myself this year and make one for our home with my own touches to it. However, when I went to Michaels this week to get the supplies, I spotted the half pumpkins there that I had started seeing last year; my wheels started turning and I made it my mission to create a stackable pumpkin address door hanger. All-in-all I'm really pleased with how this project came out!

DIY Rustic Barn-Style Shutter And Wreath

Hello my fellow Hometalkers! Today we had just a hint of cooler weather, and when I say hint I mean there was a little bit of a breeze and the air was perfect. This got me thinking of fall… I LOVE FALL! It is my favorite season. I love the weather, the smells, the fairs and apple picking. Fall will be here before we know it, so I thought I would make a rustic piece for my front porch today. This project is so easy and the best part is I used an old pallet to make this barn style shutter. I have been looking high and low for an old style shutter to use as decor on my front porch, and I thought I would end my search and just make one myself.

how to add a window into a door and why you should do it

HOW to Add a Window Into a Door and WHY You Should Do It!

It's a dreary walk up the narrow stairs staring at a plain metal door.I brushed a copper red tone over the manufacturer's standard white. That was better. I added intriguing art from my studio on the walls. But a stairwell is NOT a lingering space. Something still was missing.I wanted to see light at the end of the tunnel.I had seen expensive gorgeous doors with frosted or stained glass insets. I wanted one, but they seemed "too much" in several ways. Our home is a personal one, highly creative, country understated. I would need to wait until I found the answer.Years later I was at an antique shop, admiring stained-glass panels that had been ripped out of old buildings. The shopkeeper commented about how they could be used."They look so lovely propped against a window!" she suggested."Or inset into a door," I said. I was holding an authentic leaded glass piece, 14" square. Wheels spinning, happily I turned it to its side, like a diamond.I bought it for a bargain price. And took it home. Here's what we did after that:
