I had been looking for a piece that I could repurpose into a craft/sewing station and I found this little beauty at my local thrift store for only $12.00. With some additions and modifications I was able to turn it into the perfect work station for my office.
We’ve lived in our current house 25 years and this is still the original builder grade oak cabinet complete with laminate countertop. We stained the cabinets and we got new countertops in the rest of the kitchen years ago but the plan was always to replace this desk with something else.
I spend lots of time outside in my back yard. To make things easy when I grill I created a herb garden next to my grilling area. Whats special about this garden is that I made it from an old chair.
Nobody wanted this dated lumpy sofa. The springs were shot and the upholstery was way past it's best. But.....those amazing carved arms couldn't be ignored!
Can you believe the top is Plywood ? This old Buffet had a Hutch on top which when removed took the top of the buffet as well. A new plywood top was added and the entire buffet refinished and re-purposed to a new Coffee Station. Elegant and functional. Full tutorial at recapturedcharm.com
Ever wished you had herbs all year round? Or, have a green thumb, but very little space? Here's a fun and practical way to use old drawers (these two happened to by from a dresser I had previously revamped) for a small, indoor/outdoor container garden! http://createinspireme.blogspot.com/2013/04/drawer-planter-boxes.html
When I came across a dresser that was falling apart, I decide to save the drawers and turn them into something useful! Who knew old drawers could be beautiful all on their own?
This was such an easy project! We bought several "feet" from our local hardware store. I stained them and we screwed them into the bottom of the drawers. Next, I painted them and added a fun "Love" stencil to the front.
Now they make for the perfect placde to hold your pillows, magazines, or even your dog! :)
When I posted my "How to build a bench in 60 seconds", I received some awesome ideas through comments from other Hometalkers. I decided it wouldn't take much to show you how easily this bench can go from bench to bookcase to hall table to hutch. Also, I love the functionality of the wooden crates in the craft/home improvement stores but I have long been bothered by the look. It might be that they don't look bad, I just want to have a little bit of uniqueness to the items in my home. Someone once told me that I always have to be different. LOL Probably, true. So, below I will show you how I made my crates look less "crate-ish" and more unique.
We found an old, ugly television stand at our local Goodwill and turned it into a gorgeous, modern bar cart! It was a really simple project and a fun way to take a boring piece and turn it into something amazing. Click through to the blog post to see the full instructions and how we made the custom bottles for our liquor!
We're stationed in Germany and finding American style furniture at a reasonable price is not an easy thing to do. We decided to buy an inexpensive Tarva IKEA dresser for 149 and repurpose it into a TV cabinet.
I am an avid repurposer and love when my customers think outside of the box. This Idea blew the box up!
One day I was talking with one of my paint customers and she wanted something for her cats to climb on to get to her big window.
Turn an old drawer into a handy patio table! A set of vintage tapered legs plus a vintage drawer painted and decorated with some glass gems becomes a repurposed patio table! Re-use old drawers and create something unique and handy for your patio.
We picked up this old wood ladder that had been left as trash a while ago, and finally got the inspiration for what to do with it! It started out as one project, but quickly turned into two. Here's how we upcycled it!
I needed just a little extra wall storage in my bathroom. I just couldn't find any cabinets that I liked. They were all rather boring also I'd rather spend my money on something else.I then had a little Eureka moment when I realized I could transform an old drawer I had kicking around in my shed.
So, there I was on Craigslist scrolling through all things furniture, and I came across this great older style entertainment center. I'd wanted to try a repurposing project and I knew it would be perfect to transform this old tired entertainment center into an entryway bench.

While I don't really regard myself as much of a seasonal decorator, that all changes in summer. When the backyard flowers are in bloom, they are always brought in to brighten up my indoor spaces.
But I display them with a twist. I don't own one standard flower vase. Not a one. What I do instead is grab a vintage piece of choice, place a jar of water inside, and I have an instant vintage display that chimes in with my personal style.

Do you have an old cassette tape holder or have seen one at a thrift store? Don't overlook them, but upcycle them as a storage solution for your craft paints.
I had all intentions of selling our old nightstands on Craiglist, but then I never got around to listing them, and they sat in my garage for two years. A few months ago, I figured out that I could use one of them to make a perfect little play kitchen for my girls. Boy am I glad I was lazy and never posted them!
